At BMI every March 8 we come together to commemorate International Women's Day, a date that reminds us that the fight for women's rights must still remain latent. It is a time to recognize the achievements obtained in all areas and, therefore, we join all those spaces where one hundred percent real equality is still advocated.
On this date it is important that we also remember and make visible the strength, resilience and determination of women around the world and in every area of life.
In 2024 we commemorate under the motto: “Investing in women accelerates progress”. This phrase seeks to create more inclusive societies that benefit the business, social and educational growth of women, providing a hand for the sustained development of the sector.
Why is International Women's Day commemorated?
This day has its roots in the workers' struggles of the 20th century. In 1908, a group of women textile workers went on strike in New York to protest inhumane working conditions and demand better wages and hours. This protest marked the beginning of a movement that would culminate in the celebration of International Women's Day.
From that moment until now, this date has become a global day that highlights the importance of gender equality and the empowerment of women. It is a day to reflect on the progress that has been made in terms of women's rights, but also to remember that there is still much to do.
Even today, after so many years, this sector faces numerous challenges in which at BMI we provide support and support so that they can always be protected, because we believe in the value of each human being. Gender discrimination, lack of access to education or medicine must become a story of the past. We know, support and stand behind the incredible strength and resilience in your fight for equality and justice.
At BMI we celebrate justice and equality
It is important to remember that the fight for gender equality is a shared responsibility in society; we must all work to eliminate discrimination in all environments and ensure equal opportunities and rights.
At BMI today we thank every woman who has ensured that we all have a life with more freedoms and we celebrate the achievements of women around the world. We commit to continue fighting for a more equal and fair future for all.
